PRESS RELEASE: BLOGGER TO APPEAR ON NPR

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Blogger and friend to appear on Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me, the NPR news quiz

On the morning of Tuesday, Jan 7 I received a text from an unknown number, inviting me to have a call to discuss the possibility of appearing on Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me (the NPR new quiz, live from the Studebaker Theater in the fine arts building in Chicago, Illinois, with your host, Peeeeeterrrr Segel!!!). After an extremely brief phone call with someone named Miles, it was decided that I would appear on the show this very week.

If I win, I get the voice of anyone from the show to appear on my very own voicemail (something I've never even bothered to set up before).

When I turned 26, at my birthday party I said that I wanted to get on the radio that year. I did almost nothing to make that happen, but sometime in the late summer or fall, I filled out a short form to be on WWDTM. After not hearing about it for months, I assumed the dream was dead. I went on with my life. And if you've been following this blog (or my real life) this year, you know it hasn't been the best year. I've been unemployed for over half the year, I've been living with my parents, I've been lonely and sick and frustrated and confused. Even now that I'm supposed to be getting out and starting my new old life in Wheeling, every week we hit a new roadblock that delays the closing on the house and thus my ability to move out, start working, etc.

But then today, I got a text that changed my life. I mean, it solves literally none of the aforementioned problems, but if I hold the release of our family Christmas letter one more week at least I'll have something to add other than recounting the multiple jobs I quit this year. And just one month late, I get to fulfill one of the aspirations I put forth for my 26th year.

The episode can be heard on NPR or wherever you get your podcasts this Saturday, January 11, at 10:00 or 11:00 am EST.
